Led by and for: Queer & Trans, Black, Indigenous, People(s) of Color! Designed for the absolute beginner and/or the seasoned hiker; you will learn the basic skills of packing, map reading, camp set up, backcountry cooking, and sleeping under the stars.  See below for further descriptions of typical backpacking days. 

This trip will be led by Mercy of Wild Diversity & Raei of The Rusty Anvil

Location: Vermont - The Long Trail
Meeting Location: Brattleboro, VT
Start Date: Thursday, June 27

Closest Airport: Bradley International Airport, Hartford, CT (BDL)
Cost: $475 (Scholarships are available)
Includes: Transportation to trailhead, permits, food, backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, stoves, bowls, utensils.
Doesn't Include: Personal clothing, boots, toiletries, flights

This backpacking trip is for the Queer, Trans, Non-binary & Two-Spirit BIPOC community! Designed for the absolute beginner, and/or the seasoned hiker, you will learn the basic skills of packing, map reading, camp set up, backcountry cooking, and sleeping under the stars.  See below for further descriptions of typical backpacking days.

Classic Backpacking
No prior experience needed

  • Average: 3-6 miles/day

  • Lunch: 30-40 minutes

  • Breaks: Typically one 5-10 minute break per hour. More often if necessary.

  • Hiking Time: 5-6 hours per day

  • Terrain: Gentle, no more than 500'-1000' elevation gain per day.

  • Camp: Arrive around 3pm.
