Seattle Queer Day Hike

Please join us for a day hike! This hike is open to the LGBTQ+ Community and their allies.

Glacier Basin Trail

  • Elevation - 2,200’ Feet/ 7-8 miles (there's an extra mile we can tag on to go see Emmons Glacier if we want! This is the largest sheet of ice on Mt. Tahoma with a gorgeous glacier lake view at the bottom.)

  • Where are we meeting up?

    • 6:45am at the Tukwila Park and Ride: 13445 Interurban Ave S, Tukwila, WA 98168 (Google Map). Once we're altogether we will carpool to the trailhead. Please bring money for your driver to put towards gas. On average $10 per person is a good donation.

    • We'll plan on arriving by 8:45am at the White River Campground, and on the trail by 9:00am.

    • Look for the purple TVOP flag hanging on Teryn (they/them) or Beau's (they/them/she/her) vehicle!

    • There are bathrooms in the picnic area of the parking lot (I believe gendered *eye roll*) as well at the top of the trail (gender neutral cuz nature doesn't care).

  • Driving Directions to Trailhead

    • VERY important! Please let Teryn or me know if you will be driving yourself.

    • From Enumclaw, head east on Highway 410 for 43 miles to the White River entrance to the park. Turn right onto Sunrise Road and follow it for five miles, then cross the White River and turn left onto the White River Road. Follow the road to its end at the White River Campground. The trailhead is at the upper end of the loop in the campground (almost a quarter mile walk).

  • What passes do I need to access this trail?

    • Bring your National Parks Pass if you have one! Your driver will need this if they do not have one already. If you do not have one the fee per vehicle is $30, which can be split up between passengers.

  • What gear and clothing do I need?

    • The ten essentials - It's always important to have at least a minimum of the ten essentials for a long day hike.

    • Bring layers and a rain jacket - You never know what's in store for you in the great PNW. We'll check the weather leading up to the hike.

    • Bring plenty of water. I always bring 1-2 liters. More if it's sunny.

  • Whose land are we hiking on? (Public land is native land)

    • Nisqually, Puyallup, Muckleshoot, Yakama, Cowlitz, and Taidapam.
