Devoney (she/her/hers) resides in beautiful New Hampshire where she loves being active in the outdoors. Some of her favorite things to do are running (especially on the trails), skiing & snowboarding, mountain biking, and cooling off in New England lakes and oceans.  

Prior to joining The Venture Out Project, Devoney was the Head of Talent for a large grocery distribution company.  In her role, she served as both a coach and mentor and was responsible for training and development across the company. Prior to that, Devoney enjoyed the slopes of Colorado while working for Vail Resorts as a part of the Vail Ski and Snowboard School’s management team. She graduated from Hartwick College where she was a member of the women’s soccer and lacrosse teams.  

She is a current board member or her local town’s Family YMCA. She is a certified Professional Ski and Snowboard Instructor of America- Level 1.  

Devoney and her husband have three children who also share a love for the outdoors.

SJ (she/they) has over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining Basecamp and The Venture Out Project, SJ spent close to a decade at the American Camp Association as their Executive Director. Before that, she was an Executive Vice President at Housing Works, one of the nation’s largest AIDS service providers where she worked to create social enterprises. She was a lifelong New Yorker who now lives in Massachusetts with her partner, two kids, and dog Bowie.

Jacob (they/them) is a passionate advocate for sustainable transportation and outdoor recreation for everyone.  They join TVOP with over a decade of experience facilitating and cultivating community, leading outdoor events, and creating outdoor opportunities for all. 

Outside of the office, you can usually find Jacob on a bicycle, at a swimming hole, or in a tent.  Or, you may find them at one of the many events they host as a leader of the All Bodies on Bikes chapter in Western Mass, where they are building inclusive community for all people to move their bodies joyfully!  Beyond all their outdoor advocacy, Jacob loves to cook, play music, take photos, and play games.

Julia (she/her/they/them) comes from a background in state government and community organizing, with a strong passion for reproductive justice and cultivating queer community. Julia is dedicated to supporting the behind-the-scenes work that helps create spaces where people feel seen, valued, and joyful during challenging times.

In their spare time, Julia enjoys joyful movement, reading, attending musicals and art festivals, journaling, and spending time by the water paddling, swimming, soaking up the sun, or hanging out with their cats, Bernie and Harriet.⁠

T Doujad (he/him) delights in his magical home base of Western Massachusetts while hopping on the road as often as he can to spend time with bigger mountains. Trail running, canoe camping, and long bike rides to beloved foraging locations have made up many of T’s happiest seasons as he’s lived and worked in several different regions of the world.

An avid backpacker with a longtime passion for wilderness medicine and risk management, T spent several years leading backcountry trips before bringing his insights from the field to the admin side of outdoor programming. Prior to his time in outdoor education and recreation, T worked on native pollinator nurseries and organic farms, sharing his love and advocacy for the land and its biodiversity with his farm crews and neighbors before he made the leap to combine passions by bringing his communities outside.

Toviyah (he/him) is a mixed-media artist & painter with a colorful landscape of working experience that ranges from organic farming & outdoor recreation all the way to perfumery & jewelry making. A regular participant on The Venture Out Project’s Thursday Night Hikes, Toviyah is overjoyed to play a part in bringing the same joy and community he has felt at TVOP events to queer folks everywhere.

When he's not at work, he can be found hiking around his local woods searching for flora + fauna, painting on his porch, or cooking scrumptious and slightly experimental meals in his home kitchen. ⁠⁠

As the Property and Events Manager of Basecamp at Beaver Falls, Rel (they/them) combines their experience in directing summer camps & outdoor programs with their work as a handy person. Rel loves taking on a wide variety of projects and you can find them building and repairing things, both in and out of work.
In their spare time, Rel enjoys tending to their garden, canoeing down rivers, or going on adventures with their dog named Elderberry. ⁠
