Prepared to Care: Queer Wilderness First Aid + CPR Weekend With Wild Med
October 3-4, 2026 Registration Closes: September 25, 2026
Join us this October for a WFA + CPR Course and community weekend with Institute for Wild Med, hosted at our Basecamp at Beaver Falls in Halifax, Vermont.
Spend two full days learning the principles of Wilderness First Aid in a warm, inviting, queer community space on our sprawling forty acres of rolling meadows, coniferous forest, and gorgeous pine-furnished cabins. Metabolize all that you’ve learned in the evening with cozy fireside chats, rejuvenating hot tub soaks, arts and crafts, hot cocoa and s’mores, some meditative alone time, or a delightful mix. This choose-your-own-adventure community overnight is for any human who is looking to get certified in essential wilderness medicine skills with an added opportunity to unwind and connect with each other and the land at their own pace.
Wild Med’s highly immersive WFA course combines experiential learning games, realistic scenarios, lectures rich with meaningful stories, and opportunity for Q&A. The Wild Med WFA curriculum is inclusive and trauma-informed, focusing on how to offer effective, compassionate treatment for any body and every body.
This certification training is intended for the LGBTQ+ community, is open to allies, and will be led by Wild Med’s queer + trans instructors. Your group will be hosted by TVOP’s queer + trans facilitators for the duration of this weekend stay at our Basecamp.
The 2-hour CPR portion of this course will take place online prior to the course. Specific course location and details will be sent in your registration and reminder emails.

Information for our land acknowledgment was gathered from nativeland.ca, which provides an estimate of original indigenous land occupation, but does not take into account migratory patterns or movement of the many surrounding communities. We recognize the historical complexity of indigenous movement across the land, and honor with gratitude the many, many surviving native nations whose land we benefit from in our work to diversify the outdoors.
